Looks awesome! You need to get yourself some extra body kits and have a few more goes at it with some different colours..! 😉😁 Keep this one on the shelf, use the rough rider chassis as the runner with some different bodies on it. That is what I have now, 4 kits (two each still sealed), 10 body kits 5 of each, one shelf chassis with the 3 style srb bodies, one runner chassis with 3 bodies that I got used, so if they get damaged, just repair them. 😎😎

It looks great, it comes together with practice. As a 1/24th model builder thru the 70's, painting a 1/10th scale was a treat. I have painted or re-painted well over 50 of the VW's and there wasn't one where I didn't find a paint issue that I had to go back a do-over because of all the seams in the body. It doesn't matter how well you think the tape went into the crease, or over a protrusion, it's going to leak a little bit. Not sure I am a fan of the racing white, the pure white leaves a better contrast between the blue, especially if it's a metallic. Some of my favourites are the Ford Grabber colours or the Mopar High Impact Paints, they always look great. Grabber Green or Sassy Grass, Sublime look amazing on the VW bug. I did my share of painting poly bodies, and I am not a fan of painting them, or the looks of them. Seems more like a half measure when compared to the hard bodies, but to each their own. Cool stuff! 😎

Cool vid! Yes the SRB is one of the best kits out there, even all these years later. I recall buying all three versions brand new when they first came out, as well as multiple body kits, tire kits, heavy duty steel u-joints, with the addition of double and triple shocks, as each of them all took a beating way back then. If I'd only known they would be worth what they are now, I would have bought more and left them in storage. There were no after market mod suppliers when they first came out, had to chase down our own springs for coil-overs as well as smaller springs to go around the piston of the shock. That and wiring our own light kits, it's a good thing our high school had a machine shop class to make parts, as we were constantly making outrageous mods for the suspension system. So many good times. 😎😎

carbon is nice on some stuff, but prefer Tamiya FRP, F1, might be taking a sort of hold, you know a brake from all the TT02 stuff, watching your old stuff, plenty of content, keep coasting, no problem with that, sleeper chassis folks will be looking for when it goes away

Please don't break out the violin for what I'm about to say. But after watching these awesome videos I can't help but feel both joy and sadness. Joy because as an rc hobbyist myself I get to share my passion with my son which in fact is the only one out of four boys who loves and appreciates the hobby. Sadness because I get emotional from reading others childhood memories and experiences about how they enjoyed their first hobby grade rc, whatever the brand may have been. Don't get me wrong, I'm not the least bit jealous but I just wish I had such memories just like you all share. Point is, as a kid in the 80's I'm glad I knew nothing of the hobby and I'll tell you why. Even though my dad made good money back then, there's no way he would have bought such an expensive hobby grade rc. Fact is he was cheap and selfish...at least with me 😒... Now, as a grown 50 year old hard working man, I buy myself whatever the hell I want! As in an RC of course. Love your videos keep em coming.

Wow, I have finally had my confusion cleared up. Thankyou for the history lesson! I had what I always knew as a Super Shot as a kid and could never figure out why you could only find info about a ‘Super Hot Shot’. I wondered if I was crazy and it didn’t even exist, but I guess it was just what people called it. I’d have to check but I don’t remember it even having the word ‘hot’ on it. Omg he just said that re: saying ’super shot’ on the wing. Brilliant! I remember it being quite the prized RC car back then. I had a Grasshopper first iirc, but felt like a legend when I got my super shot lol. I still have it too.

Ugly comment will only ruin your day if it hits a nerve, ie it's something you agree with at least somewhat. But as soon as you said "Tamiya wall" I knew exactly what you mean. We live in decadent societies that encourage indulgence. Sometimes you consume product so much you cant take it any more, and tamiya product is no exception.

This hobby will always be a part of you no matter, you've given a great gift to everybody who enjoys your videos, when I first found your page I was so excited there was someone who excitedly shared the love of this nostalgic hobby as I did. My participation in this hobby I'll always love has also wained throughout times in my life but I always found myself one sunny day eager to tinker or just charge up a battery and run the heck out of one of my vintage buggies or trucks. Sometimes you need a break and time to experience other things life offers. Life is for living, loving, experiencing new things and revisiting the things that you love which makes you, you... Your video posts are my favorite on UA-cam when im down or just looking for a friend when I feel lost.
